Volunteer Care Teams of Rocky Hill -
A Program of the Human Services Department

in the Police Department Building
699 Old Main Street
258-2799

Volunteer Care Teams Of Rocky Hill is a network of trained volunteers helping frail neighbors live independently.

Purpose

Volunteer Care Teams of Rocky Hill assists chronically ill and frail citizens stay in their homes longer with peace of mind for their family members. Trained volunteers of all ages help their neighbors by providing transportation, chore services, yard work, home repair, respite and visiting at no cost regardless of age, income, race, or religion. It is a distinctive national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Town of Rocky Hill.

This program provides assistance to meet service needs not provided by government programs. This service is managed by a part-time Program Director, an Advisory Board, an inter-faith coalition of 5 churches, and town senior groups. Oversight is by the Town Human Services Department.

Quality of Life Benefits

  • Supports the "sandwich generation" keeping offspring productive while we care for parent(s).
  • Decreases isolation and improves access to services many of which are out-of-town.
  • Creates a more caring and sensitive community, providing inter-generational connections.
  • Decreases health care costs by keeping persons who are chronically ill, happier, healthier and more independent.
  • Offers opportunities for individuals to serve others and connect with neighbors in need.

Services

We have consistently had approximately 40 volunteers, providing over 4,000 care hours of service to clients since our beginning in March 2002.

We have helped or are still helping more than 200 direct care clients with an annual budget of less than $20,000.

We are a Section 170(c)(1) Non profit. Click Here to learn about making a tax deductible contribution.
